This fact sheet outlines this process and provides resources that support renovation efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"blacktop-concrete-and-structure-removal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Blacktop, Concrete, and Structure Removal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Farmers will often have to deal with existing blacktop and concrete surfaces when preparing vacant lots or other sites for urban farming.\u00a0 In such instances, farmers can choose to plant into containers or raised beds on top of these surfaces, or opt for removal of the blacktop\/concrete.\u00a0 There are several online resources available to guide someone through the process of blacktop or concrete removal, or farmers can hire private companies.\u00a0 It should be noted, however, that removal and dump fees can be expensive, and this high cost should be taken into consideration when deciding a course of action, particularly in the case of short-term or tenuous lease agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"deconstruction-services\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deconstruction Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deconstruction is an alternative to demolition that minimizes solid waste, reduces environmental impact, and the products of which are often tax deductible.\u00a0 Additionally, companies and organizations will often remove salvaged materials from the site as donations.\u00a0 Organizations offering deconstruction services and who may be able to assist with blacktop, concrete and structure removal in New York State include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Buffalo ReUse \u2013980 Northampton St, Buffalo, NY 14211 contact at (716) 218-9401&nbsp; or info@buffaloreuse.org, visit online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffaloreuse.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.buffaloreuse.org\/<\/a>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ReUse Action \u2013 <em>Serving the Buffalo \/ Niagara Region of New York, contact at <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/reuseaction.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reuseaction.com<\/a> or<br>(716) 894-3366<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/greenhomenyc.org\/building\/build-it-green-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Built it Green!
